Interview with Khadija Lahrach
Khadija Lahrach joined DataStore as Senior Sales Consultant in January 2024. In this interview, she tells us all about her career in the IT sector, the skills in her repertoire and what made her decide to join the DataStore team.
Why and how did you end up working in the IT sector?
I already knew that my professional future lay in IT while I was completing my studies in computer science at TU Berlin. I gained my first practical experience while working as an assistant to the IT administrator at the Fraunhofer Institute. This experience showed me the central role that IT plays in innovation and in the advancement of mankind.
I then spent 10 years working in a range of different positions at Dell, where I learned all about the company’s corporate culture, processes and product portfolio. I had the opportunity there to build successful relationships with clients and implement the company’s strategies. In 2017, I moved to the role of Data Center Technical Sales. I really enjoyed delving into technical documents, being a part of technology communities and having the opportunity to develop my expertise further through regular training sessions and webinars. Over time, I built up a reputation as a trusted advisor.
What convinced you to switch to DataStore?
There were several reasons behind my move to DataStore. First, I had already successfully collaborated with DataStore while working at Dell. I was really impressed by DataStore’s expertise and corporate culture. The emphases on team spirit, high quality consulting and outstanding customer satisfaction were all very important to me.
The innovative security solutions from DataStore were another thing that drew me to the company as IT security is becoming more and more important each day.In addition, I had my first experiences in the channel when a pilot project was entrusted to me. This successful experience laid the foundation for important decisions for the company. At DataStore, I saw the opportunity for me to further build on these initial experiences.
Which IT product best describes you as a person?
I am an open and respectful person with a multicultural background. My professional experiences in three different countries and the fact that I speak several different languages back this up. I learn something new every day. I am curious and like to step outside of my comfort zone to find the best solutions for problems that I am faced with. I think I would describe myself as a flexible, scalable and interoperable solution – all characteristics that are essential when it comes to driving innovation.
How do you relax and enjoy yourself outside work?
I love the sounds and the silence of nature. I find that mindful running is good for my body and soul. I also train in a small gym that has stunning views across Lake Zurich and the surrounding mountains. These activities bring some balance to my daily work routine. My weekly theater class is also a great way for me to relax. It makes me use my imagination and creativity and it encourages me to be more confident. I also enjoy discovering different cultures through reading, watching documentaries and traveling. I absolutely love trying out new recipes from other countries and sharing them with my family and friends. This wide range of activities helps me to maintain a good work-life balance and leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to take on new challenges.
