Interview with Sara Capriolo
Sara Capriolo joined the DataStore team in Gland as Business Development Manager in June 2024. In this interview, she talks about her journey into IT, her motivation and why she decided to join the DataStore team.
Why and how did you end up working in the IT sector?
After graduating, I moved to Geneva to study French. Originally, I had wanted to pursue a career in finance, but then I was introduced to the dynamic world of IT while there. I was immediately fascinated by the innovative strength and growth potential in this area, and so I started my IT career at Brocade. I was able to gain a wide range of insights into IT in my first role and I quickly realized that I could really make a difference in this industry, while constantly learning new things. I then moved to Dell, where I spent six years working on different teams and deepening my knowledge.
What convinced you to switch to DataStore?
After more than ten years at American corporations, I really wanted to find a more compact and close-knit working environment, where team cohesion would be strong and the work would have a direct impact. As a locally rooted company with a clear focus on the Swiss market, that’s precisely what DataStore offers. I can maintain strong partnerships here and convey the added value of distribution to our customers. With DataStore, I see the benefit of being more closely connected to the local IT community and thereby making a lasting impact.
Which IT product best describes you as a person?
That would probably be Trello – organized, adaptable and goal-oriented. I love creating structured plans, keeping track of their progress and always looking for ways to become even more efficient. At the same time, I prioritize tasks so that they can be completed in the best way possible.
Be honest – what else should we know about you?
Travel is my passion. I’ve been lucky enough to get to know many cultures through my family’s international background. From Italy and Eastern Europe to North Africa and a year in San Diego – each place has given me new perspectives and life experiences. I lived in Geneva to learn French and in San Diego to improve my English. Since my family is scattered all over the world, I’m also hoping to visit our relatives in Australia soon. These experiences have broadened my horizons and given me an open mindset, which also has a positive impact on my work and the way I interact with colleagues.
